The Film
Mind of Their Own is an independent short film about a colony of robots that rises from the ashes of a crumbled city in response to a far away radio signal. A team of five robots are sent on a mission to find and save the last remaining humans.
Set against otherworldly landscapes and populated by beings that exist on the boundary between machine and soul, the film explores identity, autonomy, and the haunting drive to fulfill one's purpose — even when no one is watching.
"This is more than a sci-fi story. It's an argument to show that human-made art is needed now more than ever. Using hand-drawn and hand-painted traditional animation, this trailer was intentionally made 'the hard way'. In our current world, laziness and convenience are being pushed as 'efficiency'. With this project, I encourage all individuals to create with intention in mind, not efficiency. Push yourself to create something, skill or not, with your own body and mind. To me, the beauty of human-made art is the mistakes, the trial and error, that go into making something truly remarkable."
